Product Description

This is a traditional Japanese craft called a “Temari” ball. Temari are made by winding long threads into a perfect sphere and are considered lucky charms symbolizing the wish “May you live happily and peacefully for a long time.”
The pattern featured here is cherry blossoms (sakura). Cherry blossoms are cherished as a symbol of Japanese culture. Since they bloom at the beginning of the year, they represent a good omen and “new beginnings.” Because they bloom all at once, they are also known as auspicious flowers symbolizing “prosperity and abundance.”
The flower language (hanakotoba) of cherry blossoms is “spiritual beauty,” “graceful woman,” and “purity.”
This Temari mainly uses pink and vermilion colors to express a soft and elegant cherry blossom pattern. It is palm-sized and perfect to display as part of your interior decor.

This item is one of a kind.

Materials:
Rice husks, plant-dyed threads
A suitable amount of rice husks is wrapped in tissue paper, then wound tightly with thread to form a round shape. The surface is embroidered carefully, stitch by stitch.

Handling Precautions

Display Instructions:
Please avoid placing it in direct sunlight whenever possible. The plant-dyed threads will slowly change color over time due to light and aging. We hope you enjoy this natural aging process.

As this is a handmade item, there may be slight distortions or irregularities compared to factory-made products. We appreciate your careful handling including these aspects.
Since natural plant-dyed threads are used, slight color variations may occur between individual pieces.

Please understand these points before making your purchase.

“FUKUNOKAMIYA” — Airi Hirasawa
During the COVID-19 self-restraint period at university, I encountered Temari and began making them independently. Wanting more people to know the charm of Temari, I sold my works at the university cultural festival. After graduating, I continue my activity as a handmade artist.
In 2024, my Temari works were featured in the magazine “Hajimete no Hiyoko Club.” Additionally, Temari were used in PR for the soap company “CHANT Tokyo.”
