The K-iwami Brand
About
A new type of ladies’ pochette, created with an “All Made in Japan” approach, embodying “tradition, technique, and passion” in form, made from a fabric developed using “Kami no Ito®,” a thread produced from paper with cutting-edge technology, which has the fabric’s characteristic lightness and durability. And a high-class brand handling Edo Komon kimono, the crystallization of Japanese master craftsmanship and a traditional craft recognized by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Our company, located in “Shimane – the Land of En,” has created an exquisite small accessory bag by weaving lightweight fiber “Kami no Ito®” together with cotton thread, dyeing patterns on the fabric using the traditional craft “Edo Komon®” dyeing technique, and sewing it together by skilled craftsmen.
“Edo Komon” dyeing refers to items made by artisans who carve fine patterns into Japanese paper to create stencils, and then, using those stencils, only artisans certified by the government may dye the fabrics—those are called “Edo Komon.”
We named our brand “K-iwami” (きわみ), meaning “the ultimate,” to express the crystallization of advanced material technology and traditional craftsmanship.

Items 1 and 2
A charming design inspired by the “hamaguri” (common orient clam), which in Japan has traditionally been said to bring good relationships. This motif carries the wish to attract good fortune. The zipper opens wide, making it easy to take out and put in cosmetics and other items.
Items 3 and 4
Edo Komon involves artisans carving fine patterns into Japanese-paper stencils. From a distance the fabric appears solid, but up close the intricate beauty of the pattern can be seen. Using these stencils, only traditional craftspersons certified by the government dye the fabric, and thus “Edo Komon” is created.
