Product Description
This decorative piece is crafted from a single vintage Saga-ori obi, a traditional Japanese sash known for its intricate weaving and rich use of metallic threads. This piece was created by wrapping and tying the obi by hand around a solid base, in the same way it would be styled when dressing in kimono, then carefully mounted for display.
The fabric is soft for an obi, made of pure silk, and beautifully adorned with gold threads, chrysanthemums (symbols of longevity and renewal), and bamboo leaves (representing strength and resilience).
The knot design is an original creation called “W Kururinpa” (“Double Flip”). It features two elegant twists at the center, forming a voluminous and graceful bow that draws the eye.
This style is inspired by authentic kimono dressing and has been tied by hand without any cutting or gluing.
It comes mounted on a panel and can be displayed on the included wooden easel or hung on a wall using the attached string on the back. It also fits beautifully in a frame—please contact me if you’re interested in custom framing.
A perfect statement piece for your home, office, boutique, or hotel—bringing a refined touch of Japanese artistry to any space.
