History of Hasami-yaki:
Hasami-yaki began about 400 years ago during the late Sengoku period in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture. Initially, pottery was made, but later porcelain production became mainstream. In the Edo period, blue-and-white porcelain such as the “Kurawanka-wan” became popular among common people, significantly influencing daily food culture and enriching lives. Hasami-yaki continues to thrive today, blending tradition with new technologies to create high-quality everyday tableware.
