Now that kimono are no longer commonly worn, a kimono tailoring and traditional clothing artisan created this adorable clasp pouch in the style of a kimono outfit, with the hope of preserving the charm of kimono and the beauty of Japanese weaving and dyeing — in a form that fits today’s lifestyle and brings it closer to everyday life.
The finished image is inspired by the look of a “town girl” (machimusume) as seen in period dramas.
The main body of the clasp pouch is made from leftover kimono fabric — specifically, pure silk Kihachijō, one of Japan’s three great types of tsumugi (hand-woven silk fabric).The obi-style decorative ribbon is made from leftover pure silk tsumugi fabric. Other small parts are made of cotton.

Handling Precautions
● All bags and accessories made from obi and kimono are made of pure silk.
Silk is a very weak material against heavy weight. Please do not make them too heavy by filling them too much. It may cause damage.
● Silk shrinks when wet. Do not use it when it is wet or raining.
● Please do not wash it. The color may fade or shrink.
● When soiled, please put benzene on the tip of an old toothbrush, etc., tap it lightly to dissolve it, and then wipe it off with cotton. However, rubbing may cause the stain to spread.
● The material is very sensitive to moisture, so please dry it in a well-ventilated room out of the sunlight for at least 2 hours after use.
