Product Description
This decorative piece is crafted from a single vintage obi, tied just as it would be when dressing in a kimono—without cutting or gluing. The knot style, called the “Pretty Rose,” is a luxurious and original design traditionally used for festive kimono occasions.
The obiage (a scarf-like cloth) and obijime (a decorative cord) used in this piece are the same as those traditionally used when dressing in kimono. The obi itself features a vibrant magenta base adorned with large peony motifs, creating an eye-catching and festive look. Peonies are known in Japanese culture as a symbol of wealth, honor, and feminine beauty. Such a vivid magenta obi is rare, making this piece especially unique. The fabric is silk and has a relatively soft, smooth texture.
Obi tying is a beautiful form of Japanese traditional art. I transformed this elegant bow into an ornament that can be displayed on a wall or easel. A string is attached on the back for hanging, and you may also frame it if desired. Wood easel will come with the piece.
Perfect for home, office, hotel, or shop decor—it adds a touch of refined Japanese beauty to any space.
If you ever wish to repurpose it, the obi can be untied and used as a table runner or tapestry. Gently iron before reuse.
